Im running Win 98 on a compaq presario with a Pentium 2 processorand 32 megs of memory. I just installed Clamwin and it stalled fine and updated correctly. When I begin a scan. the dialog box pops up and you can hear the hard drive running like it doing something, but I get no progress or any info once it starts and I dont even know if its actually doing anything because I have not let it run for more than 2 hours. It will also do this if i want to scan an individual file.
Can anyone please tell me what its doing, if anything, and if there is a solution to this or if i need more memory?
Thanks

It sounds sort of like ClamWin is unable to load the signature database(s), but I think you would get a message saying it is corrupted or something like that. Just to make sure, go to the ClamWin database folder (location is shown in the File Locations configuration tab. Delete the Main and Daily databases, also the Bytecode database and then do a Download Virus Database Update--right click on the ClamWin icon in your systems tray and select the update.
The bytecode database could be a problem--I don't know if older operating systems can work with it.

Well, I did as you suggested. I actually manually downloaded the main.cvd and daily.cvd and placed them into the db folder (I deleted the old files first) and I still have the problem with Clamwin not showing the % progress.
I also tried uninstalling and reinstalling and shutting off unnecessary processes and still no luck.
Any other suggestions would be welcome.
Thanks.

The last thing to look at (should have been the first, I guess) is to look at your General Preferences for ClamWin. Make sure that the display file scanned indicator is checked. If that is no help, I think we need a ClamWin developer to look at this.
