what happens if you open this folder in the Windows explorer :
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\.clamwin\quarantine\ and try to delete the file? |

dear alch,
yes, it worked! no viruses found. should have done it long ago, but will make contribution tomorrow. two questions, please, alch. 1) why did the file have to be opened and deleted in windows explorer? instead of just opening up through "my computer," c: drive, and deleting from user files? 2) was leaving the infected file where it was, seemingly in quarantine, exposing the computer to the trojan? should this situation recur, should i take same steps again? many thanks, jane javascript:emoticon(' ![]() Very Happy |

this should be exactly the same, "my computer" is a windows explorer without the folder tree.
rather not as all references to it would be invalid as they pointed to the original location, not quarantine. |

This brings me to something that has been on my mind for a long time. That is Clamwin should not keep reporting a Virus once it has been moved to the quarantine folder. eg AVG does not check its quarantine folder for viruses, because obviously the previous virii will be there. So I think reporting Virii in the quarantine folder is piontless if not a nuisance.
Michael edit: I just realised I have already commented about this elsewhere, so no need to reply ![]() Michael |

It won't in the next version. In the current release I dod not want to exclude the whole quarantine folder form scanning because it may add a potential exploit. |
