Hello,

MSMSGIN.EXE (size 17 KB, Date Modified 8/1/2001 10:58 PM) is reported by CalmWin as infected with W.32.Vimes-5. Microsoft Security Essentials has been running and reported no issue. Re-scan with Microsoft Security Essentials still does not flag a problem.

ClamAV version is 0.93.1
Virus DB Version: (Main:52; Daily: 10601) Updated 18:42 19 Mar, 2010

Is this a false alert?

If Security Essentials doesn't see the file as infected, and the file has not been changed recently, then ClamWin probably has a false detection. To make sure (one AV can be wrong), however, check the file at Jotti or VirusTotal to make sure that not many other AVs detect anything. If it is a false positive detection, then submit it to Clam AV and tell them about it, starting at https://www.clamav.net/lang/en/sendvirus/ on the web. Be sure to indicate it is a false positive, name the false detection, and tell them the Jotti/VirusTotal results in the comments section.

Thank you, GuitarBob, for your quick reply!

Jotti reports the file is not infected. VirusTotal reports only ClamAV is flagging the file as infected. As per your suggestion, submitted the file to clamav.net as false positive.

Best Regards!
