Hey Everyone,
I'm kind of new to this community, but I would like to start supporting opensource applications, especially ones for computer health and maintenance. Recently, a friend of mine was over and he had his external with him. We plugged it in to play some music, and I decided to scan his entire drive for viruses. I did so first with ClamWin which did not pick up anything. But, not more than 5 minutes after that Microsoft Security Essentials picked up a trojan. The log is:
Category: Trojan Notifier
Description: This program connects to the Internet in the background.
Recommendation: Remove this software immediately.
Microsoft Security Essentials detected programs that may compromise your privacy or damage your computer. You can still access the files that these programs use without removing them (not recommended). To access these files, select the 'Allow' action and click 'Apply actions'. If this option is not available, log on as administrator or ask the local administrator for help.
Items:
filelocalcopy:C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Microsoft Antimalware\LocalCopy\{971C869E-9D68-4618-9D38-A3B7A6C86D6A}-The Informant (2009).avi->(ASF_Script_Commands)
Get more information about this item online.
The actual virus name is: TrojanClicker:ASX/Wimad.CX
Apparently my friend was downloading movies and the one movie which didn't work, the informant, also came packaged with a trojan. MSE was able to identify it quickly and removed it without any problems. I have to admit that's not the first time MSE has picked up some viruses, I'm rather impressed at least with first launch of MSE, but anyways that has nothing to do with ClamWin, I just wanted to report this to the community so it can be fixed with the next update.
I apologize if this has already been addressed, but it just happened so I just want to help.
Thanks everyone!

Clam AV furnishes the scanning engine and signature database used by ClamWin. You should report all viruses not found by ClamWin (and false positives) to Clam. Their submission page is at https://cgi.clamav.net/sendvirus.cgi on the web.
