This in in reftrence to clamwin-0.95.2-setup, clamwin-0.95.3-setup and the version 3 patch reek havoc on my win98SE. I loose rightclick and alt-enter , doing either causes explorer.exe to crash hard with only the option of computer reset to get working again.
On install I see
msvcm80.dll
msvcr80.dll
msvcp80.dll
msvcm80.dll
going into the app directory, which is ok as they are localized.
I see that this version of msvcm80.dll (8.00.50727.762) wants to make a call to mscoree.dll, which is not on my system and seems to be part of .NET(?), through Ole32.dll. I have Ole32.dll version 4.71.3328 in my system directory. Perhaps Ole32.dll is the trouble maker? I have an older version, 4.71.2900 backed up that I could try.
When installation is finished I get an error message telling me that ddhelp.exe has been replaced with an older version and I need to reboot to replace the replaced file. The current version of ddhelp.exe is 4.06.03.0518 loacted in my windows/system directory. I have version 4.09.00.0900 in my SFC directory, this should be the version in my system directory except the installer replaced it and windows wasn't able to put it back. I have directx version 9 something installed , well it was installed. I don't see any mention of ddhelp.exe in the install script at all, or as a dependency of any of the clamwin installation. I am wondering what other system files are getting replaced so that I can put them back to what they were. I have had other program "update" my system files, I was lucky enough to be able to put them back so my system would work again, like 22 files worth. Comcat.dll is usually the culprit but not in this case.
Clamwin also seems to have a major conflict with yamwin, yam win can be found at https://www.yamipod.com . If I right click to get properties with clamwin version 3 then I get a kernal32 error the first few times and then explorer.exe crashes hard , finally I get a 0E error and have to reboot. BTW, clamav incorrectly calls YamiPod.exe Trojan.Dropper-12634, https://www.virustotal.com/analisis/9a244b4d6b8beecd23e7f0337397603c1dd6b767455ff230784d1ed6bb97fb75-1257937645
but that is for another post another time.
I am lucky in that I had a fairly recent backup.
