| How can I boost up the ClamWin scanning speed? |

1. set clamwin filters to only scan for those files that are most likely to be used by viruses. there are only about 30 to 60 such files--depending upon whose list u use. google for "dangerous file extensions." if the list doesn't include .exe, .dll, .doc, .pdf, .html, .ppt. .rtf, .swf, .tmp, xls, .zip, .rar, .tar, .7z, and .gz, add them.
2. don't scan your entire hard drive. viruses are most likely to be found in memory and in these directories: startup, users/documents and settings (mostly user/doc and settings temp subdirectories--there are several, and in the windows directory (especially system32 subdirectory). 3. also, use a real-time antivirus along with clamwin because clamwin at present is only an on-demand scanner. my real-time av list includes: microsoft security essentials, avira antivir, and alwil's avast. regards, |
