Hi,

I don't know much about clamwin antivirus yet, but the fact it uses the same database as an antivirus for UNIX makes me wonder if it really protects against "windows only" viruses.

Does it?

This question has probably been asked countless times, but I couldn't find the information I was looking for.

thank you

99.9% of virus signatures of clamav db are for windows virus, clamav is mainly used on mailservers to block worms directed to windows clients

The Clam sigmakers will get a signature for any virus/worm/trojan/rootkit/phish/etc. that Clam does not detect, so if more ClamWin users send in viruses they encounter that are not detected by ClamWin, Clam's signature database will include more PC/user viruses. ClamWin will also benefit.

It's up to you/me/all ClamWin users! Contribute by sending samples to Clam!

Regards,
