In using ClamWin I have been very impresswed with everything that it caught. I do have one concern that ClamWin seems much slower then some of the other AV scanners out there.
I would also think that if it were possible to speed up the core part of ClamWin that it would help with some speed issues of email scanning of Outlook (hopefully in the future Thunderbird), and realtime scanning of a system.
Is this an issue someone is trying to address?

yes, version 2 will eliminate cygwin unix compatibilty layer and use optimisations to speed things up.

Yes I've also had the same problem in that the scan process takes about 4/5 hours. I note that version 2 will be quicker but wonder what sort of difference it will make. Other than the speed factor I've found the program quite thorough.
