I'm new to the community. I think it is amazing what this community is aiming to achieve.
I'm a learning c# .net developer, I have a huge interest in antivirus development, my problem is lack of experience. I really don't want to switch learning paths currently as I have quite an ammunition of books to get through as it is.
I know clamwin only supports python and c++ developers currently. However have there ever been discussions of a group branching off and starting a c# .net opensource antivirus community of clamwin? I read in a forum thread further down that clamwin barely supports vista so don't try using it on the new windows.
My favourite anti virus(that I pay for) is being pulled away from the consumers. In my xp days I have had bad experiences with norton and mcaffee. Which makes me pose the question, Is there an eta on when clamwin will have a real time scanner? The reason I ask this is that this is the only reason I am led to believe I should not use clamwin as a primary anti virus.
Are there any books or resources a developer can advise me obtaining insight towards .net antivirus independence with c#?
Yet another question, where does the dev chat take place? In IRC or do you meet up in your own second life/opensim office hours?
Thanks,
Rob

Hello Rob:
As far as I know, development on the real-time ClamWin scanner has been stopped now for some time. The major problem was development of the filter driver. There are only two developers who work in their spare time, and they could certainly use some help. Nothing has come from a few offers of assistance from time-to-time.
I'm not a developer, so that's about all I can say. I think that Alch or Sherpya can fill you in better than I can.
Regards,
