First thanks to all developers for this great piece of software!

I am a not so long user of clamwin and wanna ask how the status
is about the development of

1. the current release - when will be next coming out ?
2. the rewrite Version 1 - First release when ?

Thank you.

PS: i would like to test beta status pre releases. Where to download ?

You can read about ClamAV version 0.90 at the link below. ClamWin will benefit from most of the improvements.

No, it won't have On-Access scanning.

The main new functionalities will be :
- new clamav binaries that have better access support and incremental database updates (which will reduce network traffic when updating). For full documentation of the clamav changes, see https://www.clamav.net/2007/02/14/clamav-090-finally-out-over-90000-signatures-in-the-database/ https://www.clamav.net/2007/02/14/clamav-090-finally-out-over-90000-signatures-in-the-database/
- A new option to "Try to scan executable files only" which skips certain file types
- New options to disable scanning of incoming or outgoing emails in Outlook

Do you mean that ClamWin isn't going to benefit from those new unpackers/decryptors?

I would venture a guess that a few more skilled C# / .NET developers would benefit the recode greatly.

Any idea what the system requirements will be? I suppose that by the end of the year, a lot of people will be using Vista. Even after Windows 98 support was officially discontinued, DirectX versions continued to support Windows 98 but now the DX SDK stops such support as Vista support is getting added. I've been pleased to see that ClamWin has been supporting Windows 98 SE and I know a friend who is still a fan of Win95, as far as Windows versions go, for older hardware. I know that a real-time scanner may be at least similar to writing a driver, and there may be the temptation to use newer driver models to support the newer operating systems. I do hope effort is invested in supporting the older models as needed for older systems too. It would be very nice if older operating systems can also embrace a good, free, sharable method of protection that stops the newer threats contained in newer ClamAV databases as they get updated. Even if it becomes prohibitive to maintain in the long term as new features are added to ClamAV, having at least one nice version with real-time scanning would help immensely. (I've relied on AVG Free and it works well, until it consistently results in a Windows Protection Error refusing to let Windows restart as long as the needed (.VXD I think) files exist, even if I uninstall AVG Free and install again from scratch. Besides, Clamwin's license makes it usable in more situations.)

I don't known right now if clamwin can work on win95 since it misses by default a lot of stuff regarding network,
about the on access scanner is very difficult to develop and maintain also a vdx driver that have a totally different
handling.

I've been a C# developer since 2000 (I was on the pre-public beta team). How can I get involved?
