Currently for Anti Spyware, I use Spyware Terminator, which uses ClamAV sheild if I am correct. Terminator shows scan progress, can ClamAV do that too?

Hi,

I haven't used Spyware Terminator yet, but the website confirms it uses ClamAV when performing a Full Scan.

There really is no right way to show the progress of a scan. What we could do is get the total amount of megabytes to scan and check how much megabytes are scanned, but if the first part contains lots of files that are skipped, and the last part of your drive contains a lot of compressed files which need to be unpacked and scans, this progress will be a very misleading number.

I'm not sure if using the same database for antivirus and spyware is a good idea. I believe it would be better to use a different spyware product that has its own database--unless it also uses another database in addition to the ClamAV database. The ClamAV database primarily contains viruses/worms/trojans. It does contain some spyware/phishing/scamming signatures, but it is an antivirus--not a dedicated spyware/adware detector. If Spyware Terminator does have two (or more) databases, then you probably don't need ClamWin, as you are already covered for both spyware and viruses.

Some antivirus companies are now starting to realize they need to cover ALL malware, and that's a good thing.

It does scan spyware and adware with it's own signatures. See https://www.spywareterminator.com/app/features.aspx https://www.spywareterminator.com/app/features.aspx for more info.
ClamAV is provided (or can be optionally installed?) as "Antivirus Integration".

It sounds like a nice program, and I see the basic version is free. How does it compare to Windows Defender?
