I have an infected file: ac3_0006.exe which is infected with Trojan.Downloader.Small-1712 and ClamWin has quarentined the file. The file is in the "windows" directory of my XP PRO machine. I have done a google search for file called "ac3_0006.exe" and got absolutely NO HITS so I assume this is not a Windows file of any kind.
Does anyone see why I should not be able to delete this quarantined file? Once this file is quarantine it is basically shut off from ever running in the system...correct?
I hope someone has a good answer for me.
Thanks ahead of time.
Bob

you may try scanning it online here:
https://www.virustotal.com
it will scan it with various scanners and you will know if it's a false positive or not.
If the file has been successfully moved to quarantine then it is shut off and you can delete it after you determined that it is not needed,

After deleting the file, you should probably run another check for viruses on your computer just as a precaution--at least on the folder where the quarrantined file came from.
