Current version of ClamTray takes up around 20MB of RAM on my machine, that to me is enough reason to want to disable it. However I know the developers are working on porting everything to another language so memory usage should be drastically reduced.
I still agree with a previous poster about having the option to disable the tray app, the way that this is implemented should have no bearing on the fact that someone might inadvertently disable it. There are lots of things you could protect a user from but there is only so much you can do to *idiot proof* something.
