Some of the FTP programs download different portions of a file simultaneously in order to speed up the download. What about doing something similar to ClamWin scans? Divide the hard drive up into several portions and have ClamWin set up multiple simultaneous scans on the portions. Two simultaneous scans would cut the scanning time in half, and so on.

If that would work, you might as well scan every single file at the same time, and it would be able to scan the whole harddrive in about 5 seconds.
