In ClamWin, when I go to Tools, then click Preferences, and under the General Tab --- I want to change my preferences from Report Only to Move to Quarantine Folder, but when I choose that option I get a error message that pops up saying the following:
An error occured whilst saving configuration file C:\Users\[My name is here]\AppData\Roaming\.clamwin\ClamWin.conf. Please check that you have write permsiison to the configuratuion file.
^ I have copied this error message word for word (except what is in brackets).
Notice there are many spelling errors in the message. such as:
occured -- should be spelled as occurred
whilst - is a strange term to use
write - should be spelled as right
permsiison - should be spelled as permission
configuratuion - should be spelled as configuration
I don't know if this error message is from ClamWin, but it looks suspicious to me. I don't think that this error message is part of Windows.
Could someone have potentially hacked into my PC? (Or) is this a normal Clamwin message error?
If it is a normal ClamWin message error, could anyone tell me how I can change my preferences? I am the administrator on my PC.

Right click on the ClamWin icon on your desktop and select to run it as administrator. You should be able to configure what you want then. If this works okay for you, re-install ClamWin as an administrator by right clicking on the installation file and doing the same thing--this should enable you to configure it without any such problems in the future. Just re-install it over the existing ClamWin files.

I uninstalled ClamWin, but when I tried to reinstall it, I got an error message saying (The setup files are corrupted. Please obtain a new copy of the program).

I couldn't download it from the ClamWin site, but I was able to download it from File Hippo. I will let you know how things go. Thanks for your help. I appreciate it.

I was able to redownload it, and change my preferences. This time when I downloaded I chose not put Administrator privileges on it. I am running a scan now, so I can remove the problems ClamWin found. Thanks again!

You are welcome. Be careful from where you download stuff. It's better to get it from the website of the original developer--you never know what someone else has bundled with a program. All ClamWin versions are here at https://sourceforge.net/projects/clamwin/files/clamwin/ on the web.
Remember that ClamWin is only an on-demand/as-scheduled virus scanner, so you should use it as a backup to a real-time/on-access scanner until the developers come up with a real-time version. There are several good free real-time scanners for Windows, including Microsoft Security Essentials for Windows 7, Microsoft Windows Defender for Windows 8, Forticlient, and Panda Free.
