The General configuration tab is where the user can configure what to do with a detected virus file. It has an Infected File option that shows three choices--"report", "remove", and "quarantine". The default that ClamWin comes with is to report. We do not advise anyone to ever use the remove option because this is a good way to lose an important file that might be detected in error (a false positive). If you set the option to quarantine, that is okay--you can use the ClamWin QRestore program in the ClamWin\Bin folder to restore false positive detections, but you should whitelist (exclude) falsely detected files (in the Filters tab--Exclude Matching Filenames) and also upload them to Clam AV so they can correct the signature. ClamWin will refuse to quarantine a valid Microsoft system file that is falsely detected so that your Windows operating system will still work.
If you do not see the General tab with the ILnfected File option, I suggest that you uninstall ClamWin and then re-install it to see if that helps. Thanks for using ClamWin! Regards, |
