Some information on how ClamAV's on-access scanning works. It appears they have had on-accessing scanning since .98 was released, this one has just been improved.

You can read more about it here: https://blog.clamav.net/2015/09/clamav-099b2-on-access-scanning-now.html

Getting closer to stable. I hope the Snort and YARA rules are making a difference.

I hope that ClamWin will be able to take advantage of at least some of the new Clam AV protection functionality. Kind of makes you wish you were running Linux eh?

I'm thinking of getting a new laptop after XMAS. Guess I'll order a copy of Ubuntu for Dummies with it What additional protections did you configure--Snort, YARA?

Me, too. Smile But I still run ClamWin in Wine because I want a UI and don't like the one in Clamtk, plus the program is buggy. RC2, eh? It might be time to jump in and see how she drives. Thanks for update!

@ GuitarBob: Go for it, you won't be sorry! My suggestion to anyone wanting to try Linux is to download and burn live CD/DVDs. Then you can try it before you buy it. Sticking with Debian/ Ubuntu/ or Mint is a solid choice to get started. Wikipedia and DistroWatch have a lot of good information.

Unfortunately, I am forced to stay with Windows. I am a gamer you see and a lot of my games I have will not run on Linux, even with Wine. I do have Ubuntu on my 2tb HDD, though, but I think I might just get rid of my HDD, someday.

Anyways, let's not flood this with non-ClamAV related stuff. If you want to continue to talk about Linux, please make a separate topic. I'd like to keep this about ClamAV only.
