Hello,
because recently i found many forum threads about ANTIVIR software that collects personal data and gives to the goverment if requested, i try to take more care about what software i use.
I found out Avast for example collects data and there is a big discussion going on here: https://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=319578 even with the staff working on the program replying to the original poster.

Or for example here:
"WARNING! By downloading the free version of Dr.Web CureIt! you agree that, while scanning your computer, Dr.Web CureIt! will be sending the scanning statistics and your system information to Doctor Web."

I use now ClamWin with Clam Sentinel is there any (personal) information that gets collected by ClamWin?

By the way. is there a way to make ClamWin scan my E-Mails?

Neither ClamWin nor Clam Sentinel collects any information about the user. They are both basic AV programs that are devoted to protecting their users against malware--for free. ClamWin has 2 developers and Clam Sentinel has 1 developer, and they barely have time to update their code.

ClamWin will scan Microsoft Outlook email with its Outlook plug-in if you have Outlook installed and ClamWin configured to scan Outlook. If you use Clam Sentinel with ClamWin, Clam Sentinel will scan all files (including email) that have the extensions listed in its Extensions To Scan as they are added, modified, or copied on your computer if you use the default installation configuration.

Many "free" AVs from the commercial AV companies now collect some information from their users, but it is usually related to virus telemetry so they can improve their AV products. I have seen one "free" AV that attempted to "harvest" my Gmail addresses for marketing purposes.

Regards,

Awesome! Thanks for your reply, this is great news Smile Its my favorite Virus Scan, it uses so few resources, doesn't collect data, its great! Going to donate next month for sure, they absolutely deserve it.
