Hi community i'm a new user and i'm so happy to join u and this project.
i'm talkin about clamwin and generally about OpenSource with all my friends and i hope they'll join it... Smile

my question was about clamwin using: since it hasn't a realtimescanning i decided to use it with clamsentinel
is there any security program (free) that i can use at the same time with clamwin+sentinel? like threatfire, spybot or others?
i'm using malwarebytes free for scanning but i dont know if it's possible to use clamwin+sentinel with other programs (better if with realtime protection) since MWfree doesnt provide realtime... (i'm already using a firewall)

thank u!! Very Happy

I have successfully used ClamWin and Clam Sentinel with several other AVs by excluding the ClamWin program and data folders and the Clam Sentinel program folder from the other AV's scans (whitelist) and by also witelisting the other AV's program and data folders and it's signatures folder (if not in the data folder) from Clam Sentinel. This will minimize CPU use when both Sentinel and the other real-time AVs scan simultaneously, but there will still be an occasional spike as they do so. You don't need to exclude anything in ClamWin since it is an on-demand, not real time scanner. Once in a while the other AV may trigger on a ClamWin signature as it is put in a temp file, so you may have to exclude some version of *.clamtmp, but you will have to be creative, as some AVs will not let you do this very easily, and you may not be able to use wildcards.

My favorite other AV is Panda Cloud. It is very simple and easy to configure. It primarily uses the cloud for detection, with only a small current signature database to fall back on if you lose internet connection. So it makes a good partner to Clam Sentinel's real-time ClamWin scanner and the Sentinel local heuristics. Microsoft Security Essentials is not a bad partner, but I find it quirky--using more resources than it should for such a small size, and it has many folders--it seems to be something that was "put together" rather than being one program component.

Regards,
