Evil or Very Mad I was really impressed by clamwin's detection rate until it scanned mkv gui 2.2.2.5 for trojan fake sec 111.I sent the file to virus total and out of 42 antiviruses only it claimed the file to be trojan.Clearly it is a false positive.Kindly update vir-def with this issue being eliminated.

False positives can happen to any antivirus, and they are sometimes very high profile. Viruses use the same packers, code, and techniques as "good" programs. With that said, always make sure you are using the latest version of ClamWin, currently version .97. Signatures are ehnanced with each new version, and sometimes older versions will interpret a file triggering an enhanced signature as a false positive.

ClamWin uses the scanning engine and signature database provided by Clam AV. Clam AV's site is at https://www.clamav.net/lang/en/ on the web. You can upload false positive files (and undetected virus files) by clicking the Submit A File menu option. You will be taken to an introductory page, from which you go to the actual submission page with an upload form. For false positives, change the type from "virus" to "false positive" and give the name of the falsely-detected virus in the comments section.

Thanks for using ClamWin!

Regards,
