OS: Windows 98 2nd edition
Browser: Firefox version 2.0.0.20 - 52nd version down from the latest and it's the only firefox version that works efficiently for my OS.
Re: error message: "Error Starting Program: A required .DLL file. LIBCLAMAV.DLL, was not found".
After succesfully downloading the lastest antivirus definition update on 02.16.2011, I got a "flag" stating a new version of Clamwin free antivirus is available for download.
After downloading successfully, I started getting the above error message constantly for every keyboard stroke, mouse click and move I do in my PC and web page navigation.
I also noticed my Clam sentinel version 1.15 I downloaded this past December is not functioning to do a memory scan, including a manual induce to update my clamwin antivirus definitions, etc. It would just pop the above-mentioned error message too. I hope this new updated version 0.97 does not exclude my windows 98se ?
Please advise.
Thank you!

that's strange. I tested the upgrade successfully on W98 SE.
Try uninstalling clamwin and installing it from a full installer:
https://sourceforge.net/projects/clamwin/files/clamwin/0.97/clamwin-0.97-setup.exe/download

I also suggest that you stop Clam Sentinel before downloading. Then scan what you have downloaded with something (Jotti, Virus Total, another AV, etc.) before installing--just to be sure. Then install ClamWin and start Clam Sentinel again.

Thank you alch and GuitarBob. . .
I did a clean install by uninstalling both the clamwin and clamsentinel. . . restarted my PC and downloaded both again. It's woking fine now.
Also, in future clamwin version updates, can I download the new version over the previous one and would it auto-replace, or, do I need to uninstall first?
Thank you.
P.S. this may come as a duplicate reply, since I did not see my first one posted.

Normally you can just install a new version over the old one without any problems. You do have to stop ClamWin from runnning, but the installation file can detect the old version running and will ask if it is okay to stop it.
If you are running Clam Sentinel, you should stop it before installing a new version of ClamWin, just to be sure.
