There is a new version of Clam Sentinel available for downloading
at https://sourceforge.net/projects/clamsentinel/ on the web.
Sentinel is a separate project that adds a free basic real-time scanner
to ClamWin that automatically scans files as they are added, modified,
or copied on your computer, including USB drives. Sentinel moves
infected files to the ClamWin quarantine folder. It has a ready-to-go
default configuration that can be changed via system tray icon.
Like ClamWin, Sentinel supports computers using Windows Versions 98 thru
Windows 7, and it supports English, French, and Italian users.
ClamWin must be installed before you can install Sentinel.
The new version has a System Monitor that warns users about
suspicious files and uses heuristics to identify and quarantine
files that appear to be infected with unknown malware. Users will
need to read the Sentinel Simple Guide before activating
the System Monitor in order to use it correctly.
The combination of ClamWin and Clam Sentinel now offers free basic anti-
malware protection that is very competitive with the basic protection
from commercial vendors. For users of older computers, it may well
be the best protection they can get, as most AV companies have quit
supporting the older models.
Try Clam Sentinel. If you like it, please help the author,
Andrea Russo of Italy, continue to improve it with your comments
and suggestions. A thank you to him would also be nice!
Regards,
