Am I right that making a standalone version requires just 2 steps:
1) Using relative foldes.
2) Enabling this setting.
?

If so, what's the difference between doing just step 1) and doing both steps?

I know 2) disables the options of "Internet Updates" and "Scheduled Scans", but does it do anything else?
Does it forbid the program from writing to the registry?

Thanks!

yes it does number of things, mainly it does not create .clamwin in your profile dir and does not copy clamwin.conf template there. clamwin.conf form the bin folder is used instead.

You can use a pre-built portable clamwin:

What's "clamwin.conf template"?

So does it create or edit (there's a difference) \bin\clamwin.conf?

What about the registry?

with standalone=1 clamwin will use and edit the conf file in clamwin\bin
with standalone=0 clamwin will copy the conf file from clamwin\bin to C:\Documents And Settngs\<username>\Application Data\.clamwin\clamwin.conf and edit it there

Clamwin does not use registry, only the conf file.

Oh, really?
Code:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ClamWin
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{65713842-C410-4f44-8383-BFE01A398C90}

(the latter doesn't even get deleted after uninstalling!)

And what was that template you mentioned?

yes, clamwin.exe does not use registry keys. The 2 keys you mentioned are created by the installer and are not used by clamwin.exe

the template is clamwin.conf file in the clamwin\bin folder. when standalone=0 this file is copied to a user profile folder (as per my previous post) when a user runs clamwin for the first time - hence serves as a settings template for new users.
