Hi,
I am new on ClamWin
I downloaded last version, but on Setup I get the following error : (in Setup window)

Unable to execute file:
C:\Program Files\ClamWin\bin\ClamWin.exe

Create Process Faled; Error 193
%1 is not a valid Win32 application.

I have the similar error:
C:\Program Files\ClamWin\bin\ClamWin.exe is not a valid Win32 application
when I try to launch ClamWin after finishing Setup...
Any suggestion?
Thanks

I suggest uninstalling ClamWin and then reinstalling it. It looks like you did not have a "clean" install. Normally, installation is no problem, but it can happen with any software sometimes. Let us know if you still have problems--perhaps another program is interfering.

Are you running another antivirus on your computer? If you are, I suggest you make sure it is operating and do a detailed scan with it. Some viruses will prevent security software from running, although ClamWin is not a very high-profile AV for them to target. I am assuming, of course, that you downloaded ClamWin from the official ClamWin site--available from the same menu where you selected to enter the Clamwin forum.

If you don't have another AV, I suggest you download Microsoft's free (and very good) Security Essentials AV/Antimalware, configure it, and then do a manual quick scan with it. You might also download Malwarebytes' free version of their Malwarebytes Antimalware and run a quick scan with it. It will not conflict with any AV, and it is also a very good computer security program.

In XP, you can avoid some virus/trojans detecting your anti-virus and restricting you from running it by booting in "safemode". One way of looking to see if a virus is indeed blocking you from performing tasks on your computer is to try "CTRL-ALT-DEL". If you get an error instead of the task manager, then you probably are under siege.
Another way to check is to try and run the "uninstall programs" while the administrator user from the control panel. If your system gives you an error or won't allow you to uninstall software applications, again you are probably under attack by a running virus application.

Rebooting in "safemode" will allow your computer to ignore any start programs not associated with the basic Windows applications and hopefully, skip loading the virus application causing you problems. Now you can go in there and run ClamWIN as well as uninstall latest installs that might be the culprit.

I had the same problem/ message - setup exe is not a valid 32win application. Initial problem; couldn't download virus updates - message too many tries with old version. Couldn't install new version. Tried over 5 days. Non of the above worked for me, but the following did:
* Disconnect from IE (Internet Explorer) or Firefox
* Double click on IE (even if you only use Firefox - I use Seamonkey)
* Tools> Internet Options> Security Tab
* Verify that the security level for this zone is medium-high and high NO.
* Validate OK
* Disconnect
* Reconnect

(I'd forgotten I'd set IE security level to high when my PC was behaving a bit oddly).
