I recently purchased a Mac desktop computer and spent almost all my money. Now I don't have bucks to pay for an anti virus. Can anyone point me in the right direction and suggest the free anti virus for my mac? I was told to use ClamXav for better results. What are your views and thoughts?
Thanks in advance.

The ClamWin forum probably isn't the best place for advice on AV for Macs; however, this will point you to an article about the topic: https://antivirus.about.com/od/antivirussoftwarereviews/tp/aamacvir.htm on the web. You are starting to see more AVs available for the Mac now.
It is probably more important to keep the antivirus you choose updated than to spend too much time worrying about which one to use. They all try to do a good job, but none of them is perfect. Try out several and select one that is easy for you to use.
