Hi--

I have been running clamwin for a couple of months now. Today I upgraded to 0.96 by clicking on the desktop icon, going to check for updates and downloading. I ran the download rather than saving it to disk first. (If it makes a difference, it would not start the download when I clicked on it, so I had to click on something like "direct download.")

When I went to start it from the icon, the hourglass came up for perhaps a quarter second and disappeared. It did not start. I right clicked on it and chose "run as." Running at Owner with "Protect my computer" checked gives me this error message:



That file does not appear to exist. So I created one using notepad. Still no go. I tried rebooting. No go. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling: still the same error.

Any ideas?

You might try downloading ClamWin .96 again and save to disk. I was unable to download automatically myself and had to do a manual (alternate) download. Also, I run ClamSentinel with ClamWin and was unable to complete v.96 installation until I Stop(ped) Sentinel.

I do not know what clamsentinel is, so I doubt I have that!

Clam Sentinel is a separate Open Source project that enables ClamWin to scan files automatically as they are put on your computer or when they are modified. It thus provides a partial real-time scanning function for ClamWin, but it must be turned off when you install a new version of ClamWin. The Sentinel site is at https://sourceforge.net/projects/clamsentinel/ on the web.

Well I tried twice to install from the downloaded file and the second time it worked. The first time I did not restart the computer after the uninstall, the second time I did. It did start this time, and I have a scheduled scan for this evening, so we shall see if it works for that.

Guess I just needed some hand holding. That was my next guess as to what to try, but did not know if others were having problems, and you shortened my learning curve!
