add a shortcut to your Startup Folder with this command line:
"C:\Program Files\ClamWin\Bin\ClamWin.exe" --mode=scanner --path=C:/

great I will give it a try. Can I also run the virus update first then scan in the same manner?

I am not sure I know what you mean by create a shortcut.

Do you mean create a text file with the command line and then create a shortcut which can be put into the Startup folder ?

no I mean crate a normal Windows shortcut to "c:\program files\clamwin\bin\clamwin.exe" with appropriate command line parameters and then copy it to the Startup folder.

To run an update you can either use clamwin buitin option to update on startup of use this command line:
"c:\program files\clamwin\bin\clamwin.exe" --mode="update" --close
