I've made a typo in the code of the compatibilty resolver so on Win9x you'll get this error when you try to update
This will not affect the update process, you will only see harmless messages, as you see in my log
the db is updated correctly

Code:

ClamAV update process started at Tue Sep 09 23:19:53 2008
WARNING: Invalid DNS reply. Falling back to HTTP mode.
Downloading main.cvd [100%]
main.cvd updated (version: 48, sigs: 399264, f-level: 35, builder: sven)
Downloading daily.cvd [100%]
daily.cvd updated (version: 8203, sigs: 17366, f-level: 35, builder: guitar)
Database updated (416630 signatures) from database.clamav.net (IP: 193.206.139.37)
LibClamAV Error: DNS Resolver: sendto() failed, No error
LibClamAV Error: DNS Resolver: sendto() failed, No error
LibClamAV Error: DNS Resolver: sendto() failed, No error
LibClamAV Error: DNS Resolver: sendto() failed, No error
LibClamAV Error: DNS Resolver: sendto() failed, No error

Completed

Please ignore it until next release, you will not notice any difference

Sorry for the inconvenience

Dear sherpya,
Does these Errors on DNS resolver on Win9x still apply to ClamWin 0.95.2 and newer versions? And does ClamWin still uses 100% of the CPU when scanning? Thanks in advance.
Kind regards, Mike098.

dns resolver stuff is unchanged since a lot of time, currently it's not easy to reproduce these problems.
I would implement an internal resolver like the part of compatibility code for win98
but I have no eta right now

internal dns resolver would workaround worm blocks, and maybe also errors from windows api, but not all dns-related problems
many of them are caused by network or so

Hello,

I just want to tell you that ClamWin 0.95.3 on Windows 98SE does not give Errors on DNS resolver on Win9x when I update manual. I am very happy with ClamWin now, because it is one of the very few good free that support Windows 98SE and I hope there will be soon real time protection added.

Kind regards, Mike098.
