Hi
I want to scan for the top threats and I have constraints of download size and scan duration. Hence I am looking for a solution where I can customize the AV program to scan for only the threats that I am interested in and only in the folders that I mention.
I understand the requirements are strange but cant help, hence could anyone point me to the right direction. As this is opensource, I am hoping to customize this and use. I am not sure if any of you have tried before. Please advice.
Thanks in advance for your help,
Ramananda

clamwin is just about your only choice if you are looking at an open source scanner, although there are good free scanners around. you could use clamwin with the clamsentinel front end (which provides some api protection) at https://sourceforge.net/projects/clamsentinel/ on the web. configure sentinel to use the daily database only during its real-time scanning or (better yet) configure it to only scan for the 10 or so most common file extensions used by viruses. do a full manual scan with clamwin daily. also do a daily scan with an online scanner--maybe dr. web's cureit, nod32, or trend micro's housecall.
this will not give you full protection, you realize.
