Please post a complete list of installation options, as I would like to install ClamWin using XP's unattended automatic installation tool - RunOnceEx.cmd. I have looked at the silent install page under FAQ (/sp- /silent /norestart ) and that has helped, but I need to be able to install ClamWin without updating the Virus Database (PC's having the OS installed are not always on the net) and would like to be able to hide (no GUI) the installation of ClamWin.

BTW – Great product! I’ve been pushing ClamWin to all of my small business customers (…and also reminding them that Open Source Projects like ClamWin need funding\help, so please goto: https://sourceforge.net/donate/index.php?group_id=105508&Itemid=32, -- I put a link on every computer!!!)

Thanks,
JDH

OK, maybe I didn’t do enough research before I posted the above questions, because I’ve found both of the answers myself (well, someone else did on other sites; I’m just going to post it on this forum for easy access).

How to install ClamWin without updating the virus database during an XP unattended installation: Don’t worry about it; it appears that during the installation of ClamWin and at the point were it tries to update the virus db, if it cannot connect to the Download Site’, ClamWin will not error (cool!!), but just continue with the installation and will ask you to update the virus db the first time you launch Open ClamWin.

How to install ClamWin without seeing the ClamWin GUI during an XP unattended installation: Instead of using /sp- /silent /norestart try using /sp- /verysilent /norestart, this will not only give you a silent installation, but also hide the installation process.

Another section I’m going to add to this is How to add ClamWin to a RunOnceEx.cmd file for an XP (or Server 2003) Unattended Installation. I’ve seen some batch files that will install ClamWin, but not one for RunOnceEx.cmd.

I just finished adding ClamWin to a RunOnceEx.cmd file for an XP Unattended Installation (…will also work on Server 2003) that will install ClamWin and auto config ClamWin using pre-defined ClamWin.conf and ScheduledScans files. My next goal is to get ClamWin working on Server 2003 without needing to have someone logged in the box all-the-time. I’ve seen step-by-step instructions on how to do this, but my goal is to do all of this from an automated installation of Server 2003 using a RunOnceEx.cmd file.

Has anyone tried writing an HTA to give us a GUI admin tool to admin ClamWin when it’s running as a Scheduled Task, if not, I think I’m going to give it a shot?

Notes:
-- Below attached RunOnceEx.cmd assumes that the ClamWin files are on the XP CD under $OEM$\$1\Install\Apps\Antivirus\
-- I’ve created two folders under \Antivirus\; Application_Data and bin and placed pre-defined ClamWin.conf and ScheduledScans files in the two folders that will be used by RunOnceEx.cmd.
-- RunOnceEx.cmd section for ClamWin:
REG ADD %KEY%\120 /VE /D "ClamWin - Antivirus" /f
REG ADD %KEY%\120 /V 1 /D "%systemdrive%\install\apps\Antivirus\clamwin-0.88.1-setup.exe /sp- /verysilent /norestart" /f
REG ADD %KEY%\120 /V 2 /D "cmd.exe /c copy /y %systemdrive%\Install\Apps\Antivirus\bin\ClamWin.conf \"%systemdrive%\Program Files\ClamWin\bin\ClamWin.conf\""
REG ADD %KEY%\120 /V 3 /D "cmd.exe /c copy /y %systemdrive%\Install\Apps\Antivirus\Application_Data\ScheduledScans \"%systemdrive%\Program Files\ClamWin\bin\ScheduledScans\""
REG ADD %KEY%\120 /V 4 /D "\"%systemdrive%\Program Files\ClamWin\bin\WClose.exe\""
REG ADD %KEY%\120 /V 5 /D "cmd.exe /c copy /y %systemdrive%\Install\Apps\Antivirus\Application_Data\ClamWin.conf \"%systemdrive%\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Application Data\.clamwin\ClamWin.conf\""
REG ADD %KEY%\120 /V 6 /D "cmd.exe /c copy /y %systemdrive%\Install\Apps\Antivirus\Application_Data\ScheduledScans \"%systemdrive%\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Application Data\.clamwin\ScheduledScans\""
