HELP!! I have what I think is a false positive in the clam Quarantine folder and now my CD-ROM fails to work!
How do I restore the'infected' file to it's original location on to my laptop?
I've been up all night trying restore point through the vista recovery procedure but with no success!!
Any help would be greatly appreciated as I don't want to have to go out and purchase another sony laptop!
Thanks in advance for any assistance, ardbrand

Some laptops have a button or command that will let you revert it back to its original configuration, and you can take it from there.

Look at the ClamWin scan report--that will tell you the original location of the file when it was detected. You can then rename the file (drop the "infected") and move it from ClamWin's quarantine folder to the original location.

It's a good idea to set the ClamWin infected files option to Report Only--don't use quarantine or remove.

The exact address of the ClamWin quarantine file can be found in General Preferences right below the infected file preference items. You will have to go there to remove the "infected" from the name. Then you can Copy a file (one at a time) to the original directory. Or in Windows Explorer you can right click on a file in the quarantine file and then hold it down and move it over to the directory where it should be.

All AVs have false positives, but with all the Clam false positives lately, what's needed in ClamWin is some capability to take the work out of removing files from quarantine back to their original directory.
