McAfee can be tough to remove, and that seems to be your problem. I believe McAfee has a program you can use if it fails to remove itself; however, there is some good advice on how to remove it at https://www.pchell.com/virus/uninstallmcafee.shtml on the web. I think it will tell you everything you need to know about removing McAfee and provide any links you may need as well.

I applaud your removal of McAfee. I do not recommend it to anyone except a business that has an IT department, but you do need to use a real-time (on-access) antivirus program if you surf the web. ClamWin is not an on-access program--it is only an on-demand scanner, but it makes a good " second opinion" backup to an on-access scanner.

For a free real-time/on-access scanner, look into AntiVir from Avira, AVG, or Avast from Alwil. One of them should fill your needs. Also, watch for Microsoft's free Morro AV due out after June.

I am sorry you had a problem reading my post. I will try another post. The web link above will tell you how to remove McAfee. If you surf the web often, do not use ClamWin to protect you because it does not automatically scan files when they are put on your computer. ClamWin only scans files when you tell it to scan, so you should use another AV as primary scanner and use ClamWin as a backup scanner.
