Years ago I first encountered with ClamWin
an exploit with "iframe" contained in the
name. Sorry that I lost the full name.
It was attached to the HTML files. So when
ClamWin would remove it the computers
were unable to boot. Obviously the operating
system had to be reinstalled. This thing
would always spread from one computer
to another through usb devices. If you
had your computer set to show hidden
files and folders you would know it was
there because you would see one of those
previously hidden files on the flashdrive
or external hard drive. It would take the
name of other files frequently taking the
name run a dll as an app. But it also
loved to steal the name of my firewall
and several other programs. I searched
the internet for years for info on this
and got basically nothing. But now it's
back after I thought I was rid of it years ago.
So I need any information you can provide.
I know so little about it because I first got
infected by it from plugging a usb device
into a computer owned by another person.
I was wondering if it was related to the one
in this thread.
Sorry about the vagueness of my questions.

It is probably not related unless it is an update version of the virus--since some time has passed now. Most viruses are frequently updated now--and they may even be distributed to a limited number of users, which enables them to last longer before the AV companes get a signature.

ClamWin now has protection against a quarantine of "clean" Windows system files and at least some other Microsoft files as well. You should always use the latest version of ClamWin (currently .97.6) to make sure that you have the latest detection features and minimize false positive detections. The latest version is always available from the main ClamWin web page. Also, if you have not looked into the Clam Sentinel program on Source Forge, check it out. It lets you use ClamWin as a resident scanner that scans files with ClamWin as they are added, modified, or copied to your computer. Clam Sentinel also has its own heuristic scanner to detect malware for which there is no ClamWin signature.

Thank you for using ClamWin!
