I really like the Open Source Virus Scanner, but I keep getting an error message when scanning the C Drive:

ERROR: Can't open file C:\WINNT\system32\config\SECURITY

ERROR: Can't open file C:\WINNT\system32\config\SYSTEM.ALT

ERROR: Can't open file C:\WINNT\system32\config\SAM

ERROR: Can't open file C:\WINNT\system32\config\SYSTEM

ERROR: Can't open file C:\WINNT\system32\config\SOFTWARE

ERROR: Can't open file C:\WINNT\system32\config\DEFAULT

Then It stalls so I have to always interrupt the scan. Can anyone help me?

It only does this on the C Drive not on the others....I'm using 0.88 version on Win2k.

Thanks

Roger

these error messages are explained here in the FAQ:

How long did you wait before interrupting the scan? It can take quite some time to scan large files (30 minutes +)

Overnight about 8 hours or so....I do have some really big files though (3 gig or so)

Should it take that long?

It may if the 3G file is an archive

Okay found the culprit. It was a bookmark.html file that locked up the scan. Really not sure why though...but when I got rid of it, the scan worked fine.
