Can you locate "C:\Program Files\ClamWin\bin\manual.chm" and try to open it in Windows?"
First, let me mention that I might have poked a little deeper before posting my question. Yes, I found the .chm file, but no, my install of XP (up to date, with all the Service Packs etc.) said it doesn't know how to open it.
Anyway I figured I'd do a web search for a .chm-to-whatever converter prog which there seem to be several available, but then I noticed a perfectly good pdf file right next to the .chm file in the ClamWin\bin folder. I opened it in Adobe and it sure looked like a Help file to me.
Apparently though, there's no way to tell ClamWin to use that instead of the .chm file.
This must be my lucky day, because while looking for something to open .chm files with I find that XP _should_ know to use the inbuilt Windows Help Viewer. So, I right-clicked the .chm file, clicked "Open", and in the following "What do you want to use" dialog I selected the first presented option, you guessed it, the Wndows Help Viewer and bingo, it opened the .chm file which on cursory comparison is identical to the pdf version.
Now, I don't need the pdf file, because now that I've told XP to associate .chm with its Viewer prog, clicking the Help link on the ClamWin interface opens the .chm file in Help Viewer.
Time for another Stupid Question (tm): I notice you asked me to find the .CHM file, but I found a .chm file. Is Microsoft's Help Viewer actually case-sensitive?
I couldn't find anything about this in the FAQ. Am I really the first person to have this problem, or just the first to be too slow to figure it out without a little prodding?
