There are no differences except for the way you use the portable and installed version.
Sometimes, the virus may prevent you from accessing the internet to update the installed version That is why you should also keep a portable version in an USB drive. You can update the virus signiture on the USB drive using another clean PC that have internet access. Go back to the infected PC and boot up in safe mode and do a scan. I have use this method to remove some viruses on some of the PCs at my office. |

there is a slight difference depending whether if you actually put the portable version on your flashdrive. It would be slower because its running from the portable device.
and the difference is that in theportable version, there is no tray icon i think thats it |
