I looked at the source and got it to run after a sizeof(TCHAR) fix in the main method, is something missing from it?

I wrote an app that lets you define folders you'd like to watch and have clamwin scan any newly added files and I wanted to use the named pipe to communicate with the clamwind windows service...

I'm sorry but I don't understand your question,
right now the service needs daily.cvd and main.cvd in the same directory of the executable
you can try using it by launching clamwind /t
look at pipeclient and xml examples to see how to talk with named pipe

Sorry, my question was in the subject field. Basically, I've installed ClamWin but the daemon service doesn't get installed, you can't see any references to clamwin in windows services, and there's no clamwind.exe in Program Files directory. Why isn't the service included in the installation?

Well, if you search around on the forum for say... 2 minutes, you'll see that the service is in the works for on-access scanning. But, as of right now, it is on demand scanning only. There is no need for it.

Thanks, yeah, I've noticed a couple of references to clamwind in the search before asking the question but I assumed the clamwind was mature enough to be included in the installation, hence the confusion. I've developed a service-based file system watcher (I wanted to monitor my Downloads folder especially) that talks to clamwind and I was thinking about releasing it, but since clamwind is not installed, there's no point. Instead I might write a .NET-based service that wraps libclamav.

We here are also playing around with clamwind.... It would be the ideal counterpart to clamd, since we are currently looking for a native replacement of it. We want to do some AV scanning of documents uploaded to our database, and clamd is doing this fine, just not on windows Smile

clamd is included in my win32 port but just not in clamwin distribution, we are thinking about making a clamd clone inside clamtray app
the code is almost ready but it needs to be merged, and clamwin gui should be modified,
unfortunately we don't have much time in this period

you may find complete command line tools port here:
https://oss.netfarm.it/clamav/ https://oss.netfarm.it/clamav/

but I suggest you to wait a bit since 0.93.1 is coming
