Downloading Virus Updates

I installed (and re-installed) the latest version of Clamwin Virus. When I try to dowload the latest virus definitions, the box says "ClamWin AV update process started ...". The icon on the left looks like something is happening, but, in fact, no virus defintions are being downloaded. Why not?
