It isn't normal for Clamwin to scan that long, and Version .92 is about 40% faster than previous versions. You can also speed up scanning if you scan only for the 50 or so file extensions that are most likely to harbor malware--that's what many of the commercial antivirus programs do. You could also just scan the most likely directories for malware--Windows (primarily System32 on XP), Documents/Settings, and Programs, along with active memory.
I think that current software (including ClamWin) is slowly losing the ability to support versions of Windows prior to XP--that's just the way things are. The older versions are standing still, and the software is constantly changing. It looks like your malware is all in System Restore--probably from a time when you actually had the malware on your system and system snapshots were taken. I think if you disable System Restore and then restore again (say after scanning), there will not be any problem. It's a good idea to disable System Restore whenever you have a virus/malware until you get it cleaned up. Regards, |
