Hi. I downloaded ClamWin Free Antivirus on Wednesday the 23rd of January at about 9:00pm EST. I immediately started running the program after I set it up. It has been running continuously since then and it is now 10:30pm Sunday the 27th of January and the program is still scanning my computer's C Drive. I have a PC with Windows ME. Can anyone please tell me if this is normal & if so how much longer I'll have to wait for the program to finish. Oh & so far it has found the following virus's
c:\_RESTORE\TEMP\A0310909.CPY: Trojan.Downloader.Keenval FOUND

It isn't normal for Clamwin to scan that long, and Version .92 is about 40% faster than previous versions. You can also speed up scanning if you scan only for the 50 or so file extensions that are most likely to harbor malware--that's what many of the commercial antivirus programs do. You could also just scan the most likely directories for malware--Windows (primarily System32 on XP), Documents/Settings, and Programs, along with active memory.
I think that current software (including ClamWin) is slowly losing the ability to support versions of Windows prior to XP--that's just the way things are. The older versions are standing still, and the software is constantly changing.
It looks like your malware is all in System Restore--probably from a time when you actually had the malware on your system and system snapshots were taken. I think if you disable System Restore and then restore again (say after scanning), there will not be any problem. It's a good idea to disable System Restore whenever you have a virus/malware until you get it cleaned up.
Regards,
