we are working in the credit card industry - and we are looking to secure the logs and the dumps in the PCs - we are looking to hash any credit card information ...

I know that this is a strange requirment - we need to search inside our logs and dumps in the servers and PCs to findout if there is any credit-card information - and to hash them or make an alarm if there is any ...

We used sed utility in the Linux which failed with the binary dumps of the Credit Card transactions and only worked well with the open text files ...
we beleive that the antivirus software may do that because it's one of its function to check the data signatures and to go after all the files in the systems ...

we already have a good regular expressions to find out the credit card numbers - but we need to find a search utility ...

Can we create a signature ourselves with Clam to do this function ? and what is your advise in such situation ?

I beleive that this is a great area of search and developement ...

What company are you working for? How will this provide more security? Can you provide contact information--address, telephone no. and name?

I agree - it is a strange requirement bordering with being suspicious. In any case I don't think clamav would be the best tool for the purpose.
