Problem here.
Since I uninstalled clamwin, the latest version, my registry scanners (regsupreme and ccleaner) run very slowly, if at all!

Need help please!

EDIT: When I run task manager, it show 100% cpu usage with nothing running. This is right after boot up.
the whole system has slowed. Sad

I think you need to look for the cause of your problems elsewhere. Clamwin does not have a resident scanner and is not system intrusive.

What Operating System?

You are (were) right, alch. My problem was elsewhere, didn't man to panic.

Task manager showed a file, tvtsched.exe as using 99%. This file was traced back to an IBM/Lenovo program that I had uninstalled a couple of months ago. I "stopped" this service and presto, back to normal. Apparently, not all of it got removed and I guess it was just a coincidence that this happened after removing clamwin, I don't know. It's weird. I removed the file/directory and scoured the registry and all is well again.

This happened on an old IBM laptop with XP SP2. I had AntiVir free and removed it prior to clamwin, but that shouldn't have made any difference.

I have clamwin on my desktop also. It's not an IBM, but a made to order one. I'll probably remove clamwin also and shouldn't have any trouble.

I'll revisit clamwin again when the scanning speed is on par with the other free AVs and maybe a resident scanner is offered. I really like the light load of clamwin and the support is great. You guys rock.

Thanks again.

EDIT: The uninstall on the desktop went fine.
