Every time I try to start ClamWin I get a message: 'You have not yet downloaded Virus Definitions Database - do you want to download it now?' - Trouble is, I have downloaded it - and I can never progress beyond that, 'cus I download it, then the same message comes back.....I feel like a dog chasing its own tail!

If you have not yet done so, download and install the most recent version of ClamWin, which is 0.90.2.1. That might fix things for you. If you already have that version, uninstall it and download it again because you may have gotten a bad download.
