I too am having the problem of downloading daily updates. The warnings are:
WARNING: getpatch: Can't download daily-26104.cdiff from database.clamav.net This happens since some time in February 2021. Before it worked flawlessly. There was no change in my system (Windows 7) nor in my LAN. Re-installation of the newest ClamWin Version did not help. The ClamWin Settings for "Internet Updates" shows in the "Download Site": "database.clamav.net". The log of the windows firewall shows that freshclam.exe sends 3 UDP requests to port 53 (DNS request) to the DSL-router (an AVM Fritzbox) but I can't see any reply coming back. The firefox.exe has no problem finding the IP-address for database.clamav.net and presenting the download page for main.cvd and daily.cvd. |

Clam AV has dropped any version before 0.100.0. ClamWin uses the Clam AV database, but it can not be updated because the latest ClamWin verson is only 0.99.4, which was from about 2 years ago. There is a fix for this. See on these forums: http://forums.clamwin.com/viewtopic.php?t=5226 which a user was kind enough to put up. Even then, however, ClamWin appears to be an abandoned project, and it is very old. I suggest you look for another AV.

ClamAV's own Windows port, no GUI |

This is my first and given its subject matter likely my last post here.
I too have noticed ClamWin failing to update its virus signatures since about 2nd/3rd quarter of February 2021. I tried the fix at http://forums.clamwin.com/viewtopic.php?t=5094&start=15 which was evolved under Windows XP SP3 but it didn't work for me on Windows 7 owing to different paths I guess. So I did some web searches and found the following which may already be noted somewhere on these forums but I couldn't immediately see it: ClamAV's own Windows port, which has no GUI: https://www.clamav.net/downloads#otherversions https://www.clamav.net/documents/installing-clamav-on-windows https://www.immunet.com/index https://www.clamav.net/documents/clamav-on-microsoft-windows-faq For Windows 7 and newer (Cisco also offers Immunet, powered by ClamAV, "a fast, fully featured Windows desktop Anti-Virus (AV) solution that utilizes the power of advanced cloud based detection techniques and the strength of the time tested ClamAV engine..." Free for non-commercial use. "Immunet sends information about the files its scanning back to the cloud." The installation instructions of ClamAV for Windows involve use of Windows Powershell. I'd never used it before but had no problem with the instructions although I didn't see anything obvious which couldn't have been accomplished under a standard cmd prompt run by Administrator. Anyway the version I downloaded and installed was ClamAV-0.103.1_w32.exe being the one including setup, there being also a portable version. w32 and x64 o/s versions are covered to differing degrees. After installation I created a desktop icon for freshclam and added the ClamAV scanning program to the Windows Explorer send-to menu. After downloading the virus signatures database as per the installation instructions I selected a file and right clicked on it to send it to the ClamAV scan program which after the customary brief delay while virus signatures were loaded, scanned and exited seemingly successfully. I need to explore further including re: the existence of a conf file for options for the basic scan program; conf files are present for clamd (iirc appears to be a helper program designed to enable on demand scanning without waiting for virus database to be loaded) and freshclam which are in or created by the install program. |

Thanks for this info. I have printed it in case I want to take advantage of it. I've previously tried to use the Clam AV Windows port without any success. If your info works, all that is needed is a new GUI and some up-to-date detections besides the Clam AV signatures, which do not provide enough protection for Windows users. Any version of Clam AV lower than 0.100 has been dropped by Clam AV.

ClamWin definition dB downloads are being denied access |
ronrbishop

ClamWin definition downloads started being denied access to the database.clamav.net site around March 10.
Manual download via http and wget both show “cloudflare” gives Error 1020 Access Denied.... what happened? This website is using a security service to protect itself from online attacks. Why am I “Access denied”? |

Also...you might check the Clam AV blog dated today. It explains what they are doing behind the scene re: signature updates and future enhancements.
If I were you, I would just forget about ClamWin and get something else. It is going nowhere. The developer has stopped working on it as of about 2 years ago. Regards, |
