You should probably restore any file that prevents an application from working--say a file from a program folder. I wouldn't worry about temporary (.temp or .tmp) files. Many viruses use temporary files or are in one of the the Appdata Folders--an executable (.exe or .dll) file in an Appdata folder is suspect.

I wish I could copy this quarantine list from Clamwin so you could look at it. But it won't copy. I'd feel a lot better if someone who knows what they were doing could look at it and tell me which ones to unquarantine.

As I said above, you can probably uninstall every .exe or .dll file. To be sure, you can upload each file to Virus Total, which will scan it with about 600 AV programs. If Clam AV is the only AV detecting the file (or if it does not detect it--in that case the virus signature has been corrected), it is safe. Temporary files don't mattter--all you need to do is delete them.
I think I have given you all the help I can on this. Good luck! Regards, |

Thanks. I did restore the adobe files, and now my PDF files open. YAY!!! That is a total releif.
Just looked through the balance of the list. There are 12 .exe, 1 .dll and 5 .msp files. Not sure what .msp is. I restored the exe and dll ones. Now just wondering what to do with the msp files. Once I know that, I should be set. Whew! So appreciate your time and help. |

The remaining files are installer files, which might be needed at some point. I suggest that you restore them also.

OK. Got all those restored too. The only file that wouldn't restore had a msg that indicated it was already on the computer. The message was this.
Starting File Recovery C:\Program Files\Google\Google Toolbar\Component\GoogleToolbarManager_A6282D74FF5C38C8.exe Error: Cannot create a file when that file already exists. I presume I can just ignore. THANKS!!!! |

Yes, I think you can ignore this. When/if you uninstall ClamWin, the uninstall will delete the ClamWin quarantine folder and contents anyway. Make sure that you use some sort of real-time protection though. My best advice is Fortinet's Forticlient if you can use it.
Regards, and Good Luck! |
