My ClamWin logs are in C:\ProgramData\.clamwin\log on my computer. There are no install logs, but it has been quite a while since I installed it. Maybe you don't get a log unless there is a problem with the install. Did another AV on your computer maybe prevent a good install? Also, do you have main, daily, mirror, and bytecode files in your ClamWin data folder?

Yes, I see that the log does goes to C:\ProgramData\.clamwin\log. Although the default directory when installing is C:\Program Files (x86).

Don't worry about the OUTDATED warning. ClamWin uses the scan engine/virus database provided by the Clam AV (Linux) project from Cisco, and the warning is for Clam AV (Linux) users only. The latest ClamWin port of Clam AV is version .99.1, so you are up-to-date. I think Clam AV version .99.2 was mainly for Linux.
The files you should have in your ClamWin db folder are: bytecode.cld, daily.cld, main.cvd, and mirrors.dat. Sometimes the extension can be either .cvd or .cld. The Clam AV mirror situation is a bit "touchy". You can not get an update from a mirror sometimes. Just try again in an hour or so. I set my ClamWin to automatic updates (Tools, Preferences, Internet Updates, Enable Automatic Updates) starting at 8 AM in the morning and leave it at that. I hope you are using another AV along with ClamWin. ClamWin is used on servers, but it is not tested extensively in a network environment (join the ClamWin beta testers to remedy that). ClamWin is an on-demand scanner--it does not scan in real-time, and there is no control of executed files. In my opinion, the Clam AV signatures are not sufficient for use in a business/network. So for those reasons, you should also be using a real-time AV. Just exclude the ClamWin db and quarantine folders, and the *.clamtmp temporary scan file (if possible) from the other AV's scans to prevent any problems with double detections. Thanks for using ClamWin! Regards, |

Thanks
Yes, in the .clamwin\db folder is: bytecode.cvd, daily.cvd, main.cvd but not mirrors.dat I do not have another Anti-Virus app installed on my laptop. Any suggestions? I'm holding tight for now, and gonna continue in the morn... Thanks for your assistance. |

Yes, it looks like you are missing the mirrors file, which lets you access the update network. You might try deleting all the files in the db folder and then do a manual update again. ClamWin should start all over with building the db folder files then.
As for a real-time AV for primary protection, Microsoft Windows Defender is available for networks that do not have more than 10 computers. I believe that Fortinet's Forticlient AV is also available for network use. There aren't many free AVs available for network use. Regards, |

Remember, after downloading and when attempting to run ClamWin is when I receive the error
See the logfile 'C:\Program Files (x86)\ClamWin\bin\ClamWin.exe.log' for details and cannot access ClamWin from that point. So unable to perform a manual update. When I deleted the .cvd files from the db directory, and attempted to run ClamWin, received- Seethe log file 'C:\ProgramData\.clamwin\bin\ClamWin.exe.log' for details That log file listed Traceback (most recent call last): File "ClamWin.py", line 28, in ? File "RedirectStd.pyo", line 54, in ? IOError: [Errno 13] Permission denied: 'C:\\Users\\User\\AppData\\Local\\Temp\\ClamWin1.log' Even when I redirect the install from the default location of C:\Program Files (x86)\ClamWin, to C:\ProgramData\.camwin then attempt to run ClamWin, still get Seethe log file 'C:\ProgramData\.clamwin\bin\ClamWin.exe.log' for details Since this a personal PC (not a server), I may just forgo ClamWin, and use a AV for my PC. |

For some reason I thought you were on a network. It looks like you have some sort of unique situation that is preventing a good install of ClamWin. I think one of the free real-time AVs would easier to install and would provide better protection than ClamWin . Microsoft Security Essentials (Windows Defender on Windows 7/Windows 8.1/Windows 10 would be easy to use. You can get better protection, however, from Fortinet Forticlient, Qihoo, or Sophos Home (all are free). Be sure to update the AV and do a full scan when installed. Get a copy of and keep Malwarebytes Antimalware's free version (not real-time) around and run a weekly threat scan with it for extra protection. Make sure there isn't some malware that is preventing you from installing ClamWin.

It looks like your TEMP folder has incorrect permissions set. You need to allow your user write access to the TEMP folder:
C:\\Users\\User\\AppData\\Local\\Temp
