I forwarded the link to the ClamAV team, but it's likely they may already know of it or have a better source for ransomware. Either way, thanks for the link.

Malwarebyes has an anti-ransomware beta that appears to prevent lots of the stuff. Any security product that prevents/limits scripting can prevent at least some ransomware. Also, make regular backups of your important data/document/picture/audio files and store them off your computer just in case you get ransomware.

Malwarebytes can not help with Cerber 2 Ransomware. Their Antivirus is good but not up to date. My opinion. Look for a new decryptor tools on nomoreransom.org Or, you can try Shadow Explorer Programm or previous version feature of the Windows system as shown on a german site:

Malwarebytes will detect/remove Cerber2, and probably lots of other AVs will also--Clam AV should have one or more signatures for it by now. Any high profile malware will soon have at least some AV signatures that detect it after it has been out for a few days. The longer it circulates, the more AV signatures it will have. The problem with ransomware is that if it is a new version that gets by your AV and infects your computer, you may need file backups to restore your encrypted files after it is removed. Bleeping Computer and Emsisoft do have decrypting information/programs for some ransomware, so you can try them if you do not have file backups.
See https://malwaretips.com/blogs/remove-cerber2-virus/ on the web for Malwarebytes' information about Cerber2. By the way, be sure to check out any URL (including mine above) with Virus Total before using it--just highlight the URL, copy, and then paste it to Virus Total. Do not use the URL if any AVs on Virus Total say it is malicious. Regards, |
