Clam AV has quietly released version .97.5 in the last couple of days. It looks like mostly bug fixes but includes better archive detection. You may see the notice during updates, but there is no new version available for ClamWin yet. If there is nothing substantial there, the ClamWin developers may skip the new version.

No, there's no harm in you updating the signatures. They will still be used by any version of ClamWin.

New versions of Clam usually include some new detection features, so any new functionality included in Clam version .97.5 will not be available to ClamWin users until the changes are included in the ClamWin program. As far as I know, the biggest change is that version .97.5 has a bit better scanning of some types of archived (zipped) files. ClamWin is as good as ever, and it will be even better when the changes are included.

Hopefully they won’t… Here is an extract of the mail I received from the "Clamav-announce" mailing list :

We will be making the release soon - it is in internal testing at the moment.

Thank you for the prompt reply, AlCh. Do you need beta testers, as stated by GuitarBob ?

We do! I added you to beta testers group and you should now see the forum where we announce all beta releases. 0.97.5 has not been published there yet - I have a few issues with it.
