Hi !

Thanks for offering your help, it is appreciated!

First, clear this out for me: Is Arabic = Urdu ? In that case, we have a wiki page for Urdu/Pakistani.
If it is different (or is another dialect that differs a lot), I'll add a page for Arabic and post the link here.

Hi again.

Well what do you know, it seems that we already have a wiki page for Arabic, so you can start on the translation of the application right away Wink. I also added ar_SA.po and ar_SA.iss to the locale directory. You can find more info on the wiki page: http://wiki.clamwin.com/index.php/Arabic_Translation http://wiki.clamwin.com/index.php/Arabic_Translation

The manual should also be no problem if you feel up to it.

For the website translation, we are looking for someone to update the Joomla! server before we add any languages.

Hi,

=> OK so i have changed the filenames to ar_AE.po and ar_AE.iss (the country code for UAE).

We are currently looking for someone to upgrade the Joomla (the content managament system we use) server. Until then no languages will be added to the website.

You can start translating the application. This is done using Poedit, which is a graphical editor which makes it easy to translate. When you have translated the ar_AE.po using poedit, you can send it to me by email, and i will add it to the next test build (the official ClamWin release does not support localization yet, we will change that when the test builds are bug-free and stable).
For the installer there is a ar_AE.iss file which you should be able to translate using a UNICODE text-editor like Notepad. Again, just email it to me and i'll do the rest.

If you are interested you can also translate the helpfile, but i prefer the program to be translated first (it will point to the english helpfile by default). The helpfile consist of some OpenOffice documents that are compiled to HTML text and pdf (we'll do that for you).

The links to poedit download, .iss and .po file are on the wiki page, along with some extra info.

I know, poedit sometimes tries to translate new strings automatically and indicates them as "fuzzy". I try to remove those fuzzy translations because i prefer the original english text over a faulty text.

If you have any more questions, please don't hesitate to ask me.

regards,

Hi Smile

so I have done the software translation but it tells me when i save it that the

00:19:41: C:\Documents and Settings\home\Desktop\New Folder (3)\ar_AE.po:1019:37: invalid control sequence
00:19:41: msgfmt: found 1 fatal error

and there are some other carcters like btween the wards n/ or s but i think they are for the software to know the place cuse they are also with the English

and for the .iss file should translate this way "ar_AE.LanguageName=Arabic" or "LanguageName=Arabic"

sorry i have been too Annoying these days Confused

No problem, I keep forgetting that not everyone has more programming experience than I do Smile.

Can you email me (budtse «at» users.sourgeforge.net) the file? I'll have a look at it. (I hope my system supports Arabic fonts).

The .iss file must be translated as "ar_AE.LanguageName=Arabic". Actually this file is included in the setup script with the other files, so we also have en_US.LanguageName etcetera.

* Download the file from the locale directory
* Put your name in the "Locked by" colum (to avoid 2 persons editing the same file at the same time)
* Update the .po file with Poedit and the .iss file with a normal editor like Notepad (do choose an editor that supports UTF-8 please).
* Email it to Budtse. He will add the update to Subversion and clear the lock.
