Hi guys,

I'm hoping that someone who really knows about the inner workings of ClamWin can answer my question.

Am I right in thinking that "Data read" is the total size of all the files that ClamWin read from the disk?
Am I right in thinking that "Data scanned" is the total size of all the data that was actually scanned?

Sometimes Data scanned is greater than Data read. Is that because ClawWin has has extracted data from compressed files.

Sometimes Data scanned is less than Data read. Is that because ClamWin did not or could not scan all the files presented to it?

Thank you.

Data scanned is the total size of all the files actually scanned by ClamWin. Data read is the total raw file size of all files considered by ClamWin. It does not scan every file, and it extracts many compressed files formats, which will be larger than the initial read of the raw file. If you use custom file extensions to scan, it will not scan other extensions. Now and then it will also find a file format that it is unable to scan because it is being used by the system or it can not read the file format.

Regards,
